So, I've been pretty inac

So, I've been pretty inactive on here for a while now, time to get back to it! One thing I want to talk about is habits, we all have them, good and bad, but our day pretty much follows the habits we have formed over time, such as what we have for breakfast, what shirt we wear on what day for work, the list is endless. Now let's talk about it in relation to being healthy, maybe you go for a run every night or go to the gym and train the same thing on the same day each week, these are healthy habits or maybe you wake up and you don't eat breakfast, drink 3 coffees before 12 pm and eat a packet of biscuits everyday and barely go to gym, these are unhealthy habits. There is a way we can change this though! The 3 r's of habit formation, this is the cycle of building new healthier habits. REMINDER - The first R is reminders.. this is the trigger that makes us do certain things, for instance - someone annoys you, you eat a cake - someone annoying you is the reminder. So trying to build a new habit you need to associate things with your new healthier habit, and remind yourself to do it, maybe even put a reminder on your phone for instance - you want to start eating breakfast, put a note on your phone or a note next to the kettle, to remind you. ROUTINE - The second R is routine, the thing you do after the reminder, so eating breakfast, going for a run etc, it is best to start off small, to make it easier to change, so it doesn't seem overwhelming, so thinking something easy that you know you can stick to at least 50% of the time to start with and continue from there. REWARD - The last R is reward.. seen as this post is related to fitness there is always going to be a healthy reward at the end, for instance - new habit, eat breakfast when you wake up, reminder - waking up, routine - eat breakfast, reward - feel full and have energy to last you through the morning until lunch. I hope this post (I know it's a long one) has helped you understand a little bit more about habits and how to form new healthier ones! It can be defined either with respect to a genotype or to a phenotype in a given environment. In either case, it describes individual reproductive success and is equal to the average contribution to the gene pool of the next generation that is made by individuals of the specified genotype or phenotype. The fitness of a genotype is manifested through its phenotype, which is also affected by the developmental environment. The fitness of a given phenotype can also be different in different selective environments. With asexual reproduction, it is sufficient to assign fitnesses to genotypes. With sexual reproduction, genotypes are scrambled every generation. In this case, fitness values can be assigned to alleles by averaging over possible genetic backgrounds. Natural selection tends to make alleles with higher fitness more common over time, resulting in Darwinian evolution. The term "Darwinian fitness" can be used to make clear the distinction with physical fitness. Fitness does not include a measure of survival or life-span; Herbert Spencer's well-known phrase "survival of the fittest" should be interpreted as: "Survival of the form (phenotypic or genotypic) that will leave the most copies of itself in successive generations." Inclusive fitness differs from individual fitness by including the ability of an allele in one individual to promote the survival and/or reproduction of other individuals that share that allele, in preference to individuals with a different allele. One mechanism of inclusive fitness is kin selection.

Fitness is often defined as a propensity or probability, rather than the actual number of offspring. For example, according to Maynard Smith, "Fitness is a property, not of an individual, but of a class of individuals for example homozygous for allele A at a particular locus. Thus the phrase expected number of offspring means the average number, not the number produced by some one individual. If the first human infant with a gene for levitation were struck by lightning in its pram, this would not prove the new genotype to have low fitness, but only that the particular child was unlucky." Alternatively, "the fitness of the individual - having an array x of phenotypes is the probability, s(x), that the individual will be included among the group selected as parents of the next generation."
