I AM SO EXCITED!! starting #BBG 2.0 today! I am happy to tell you I've finished BBG1.0 with a lot of progress over these past 4 months (incl. pre-training) not just physical but a lot of mental progress too I wasn't in a very good place when I started on May 1st because of a rough breakup and I needed to get all of my sadness and anger out of the way. Smashing my workouts and eating healthier definitely makes me feel so much happier now it's time to move on to BBG2.0! I did it! I got out and walked 5km with a couple of local Healthy Mummies this morning. My legs were aching bad, I've lost strength. Hey Ladies ! Happy Humpday! Well that is what I think of that , intermittent fasting that is To be fair that is also what I think of being back in a sweater, what happened to the summer?! As promised, having now tried it out for myself, I'm back with a few more thoughts on intermittent fasting. I should just make clear though that these are my views , based on my own personal experience. I know plenty of people (mainly guys it has to be said) who get on really well with intermittent fasting, theyve managed to shed body fat while hanging on to muscle , which is notoriously difficult to do. So if this works for you, go for it, it's not for me though To recap, I tried the 16/8 diet, whereby I only ate during an 8 hour period, in any 24 hours. I didnt restrict or change my calorie intake in any way, so I didnt expect my weight to change and I didnt want it to. So how did it go? Honestly, not so good. I was starving hungry, grumpy (hanger alert ) and lacking in energy. My lifts were all down and I had a pounding headache by late morning . My weight didnt change, but I lost a small amount of muscle mass the last thing I wanted to do. So, all in all, I didnt like it. Instead, I prefer to eat at regular intervals, and keep my blood sugar and energy levels more stable, which is exactly the advice I give to anyone looking to shed their baby weight. You should also think very carefully about intermittent fasting if you are trying to conceive , as there is research to suggest that it can have a negative impact on female fertility. Like a lot of other woman I know, I am usually cold, often tired and sometimes dizzy when I stand up too fast. Such are the symptoms of mild-to-moderate iron deficiency. Low iron is the most common nutritional deficiency in the U.S. Almost 10% of women are iron deficient. But why is it so important? Eggs are one of my favorite protein sources. However, whole eggs are pretty high in calories, whereas, egg whites are one of the lowest calorie and purest protein foods you can eat. Of course, egg whites don't taste as good either. This image is 3 egg whites and 3 whole eggs. The egg whites only have 45 calories but the 3 eggs have 180. A trick that I like to use is include one whole egg and then use mostly egg whites. Overall, you get about 80% of the taste and feel of whole eggs yet save a bunch of calories. There is nothing wrong with only eating whole eggs! [ #screwthescale ] Sept 2014 vs. Aug 2017 Throwback to the last trip my husband and I took together without kids. Yes it has been 3 yrs but I'm so excited to spend time together on our upcoming trip to Hawaii. What has changed in 3 yrs: 130lbs vs. 153-155lbs Mom of 1 vs. Mom of 2 Cardio obsessed vs. BBG/weights Carb-a-phobic/Keto vs. Balanced macros +9-12 hrs of exercise per week [+6-8 miles a day] vs. max of 28-60 mins per day Fixated on the scale vs. No scale at all Self-conscious vs. Self-confident Size 0-2 vs. Size 4-6 No butt AT ALL vs. Glute bridge PR of 285lbs Goal: skinny vs. Current goal: strength Relationship with exercise: obsessive vs. balanced . . . I did not recognize my warped relationship with my body and exercise 3 yrs ago. I am competitive and would compete in races then fixate on doing better and run more and more... but after having a 2nd child I didn't have time to run that much anymore. That is when it hit me. I had a nervous breakdown I had no idea how to be balanced with exercise... all I knew how to do was all or nothing. So, I signed up for @sweat and started #bbg --- it took time to find balance with bbg. Unfortunately my first two rounds I became obsessive... I didn't find balance with bbg until 5-6 months in when I tossed my scale and REALLY tried to readjust my self perception and relationships with exercise and food. It is HARD breaking the cycle of self deprecating habits and requires daily practice every single day. I am not perfect. I haven't "arrived" to an endpoint. I continually stop and reflect: Am I balanced or obsessive? If I take a week off do I stress or truly allow for rejuvenation? An active lifestyle is just that: A LIFE-style that should include LIVING and ENJOYING life not depriving yourself OF life. It is humbling to share my journey. To recognize that then and now I always have room to grow and improve to be the best version of myself. Happy Thursday babes! Crowded House has won several national and international awards. In Australia, the group has won eleven ARIA Awards from 26 nominations, including the inaugural Best New Talent award in 1987. The majority of their ARIAs were awarded for their first two albums, Crowded House and Temple of Low Men. They won eight APRA Awards from eleven nominations and were nominated for The New Zealand Silver Scroll for "Don't Stop Now" in 2007. "Don't Dream It's Over" was named the seventh best Australian song of all time in 2001. The daughter of Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon, Catherine was three years old when she was betrothed to Arthur, Prince of Wales, heir apparent to the English throne. They married in 1501, but Arthur died five months later. In 1507, she held the position of ambassador of the Aragonese Crown in England, the first female ambassador in European history. Catherine subsequently married Arthur's younger brother, the recently ascended Henry VIII, in 1509. For six months in 1513, she served as regent of England while Henry VIII was in France. During that time the English won the Battle of Flodden, an event in which Catherine played an important part with an emotional speech about English courage. By 1525, Henry VIII was infatuated with Anne Boleyn and dissatisfied that his marriage to Catherine had produced no surviving sons, leaving their daughter, the future Mary I of England, as heir presumptive at a time when there was no established precedent for a woman on the throne. He sought to have their marriage annulled, setting in motion a chain of events that led to England's schism with the Catholic Church. When Pope Clement VII refused to annul the marriage, Henry defied him by assuming supremacy over religious matters. In 1533 their marriage was consequently declared invalid and Henry married Anne on the judgement of clergy in England, without reference to the Pope. Catherine refused to accept Henry as Supreme Head of the Church in England and considered herself the King's rightful wife and queen, attracting much popular sympathy. Despite this, she was acknowledged only as Dowager Princess of Wales by Henry. After being banished from court, she lived out the remainder of her life at Kimbolton Castle, and died there on 7 January 1536. English people held Catherine in high esteem, and her death set off tremendous mourning. The controversial book The Education of a Christian Woman by Juan Luis Vives, which claimed women have the right to an education, was commissioned by and dedicated to her. Such was Catherine's impression on people that even her enemy, Thomas Cromwell, said of her, "If not for her sex, she could have defied all the heroes of History." She successfully appealed for the lives of the rebels involved in the Evil May Day, for the sake of their families. Catherine also won widespread admiration by starting an extensive programme for the relief of the poor. She was a patron of Renaissance humanism, and a friend of the great scholars Erasmus of Rotterdam and Thomas More.
